Dude at the Dunes

We took a great two-day trip to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore/Indiana Dunes State Park and enjoyed the clear blue water of Lake Michigan.  Who needs to drive all the way to the oceans when the lake (with no sharks or jellyfish) is just a few hour away.  What's great about this beach, is not just the sand and water, but the 100+ foot dunes that surround the beach.  You can hike them, slide down t hem and enjoy beautiful views from the top - an awesome work out that your legs will likely feel the next day.  Kayaks and paddleboards are also available for rental.

We stayed in Chesterton, a quaint town with a charming downtown with a couple of cute restaurants, an ice cream parlor and a park with a gazebo. On Saturdays, Chesteron has a European Market with vegetable and fruit stands, homemade baked goods, homemade jewelry and more.
